Course Description

This course provides the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install, configure, and administer using Linux Operating System. Topics include system installation and configuration, startup and shutdown, adding/deleting users, installing peripheral devices, backing up and restoring system and user data, application package installation, security, and task scheduling. Students will also learn how to administer and maintain file systems, accounts, printers and hardware devices with the Linux operating system.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  1. Obtain the hardware and software information necessary to install Linux;
  2. Install an industry-standard distribution of the Linux operating system;
  3. Configure and administer Linux operating system;
  4. Implement mail and network services using Linux Operating System;
  5. Develop critical thinking and logical reasoning;
  6. Acquire desirable habits and attitudes in learning the course;
  7. Imbibe the values of honesty, orderliness, patience and persistence in one’s work in order to carry on such desirable traits in the practice of one’s profession.
